Points of View

Last evening I met Eva.

Admittedly, I must have been a little tipsy at the time, but there was no mistaking that sultry come-hither look. She sat silhouetted on a stool, the epitome of womanhood. Legs boldly apart: enough to inspire yet another quote from Al Pacino in Scent of a Woman (but we shall let this one pass).

I finally figured that Eva was too good to be true; it had to be the wine (I know, I know, good things don’t happen to me, but would you grudge me a little drunken dream?). Fact is, I had met Eva not last evening, but a while earlier than that, when I was busy photographing a pair of frosted glass vases on a shelf at IKEA, in Palo Alto. I just didn't know it at the time.

How Eva managed to get her leg framed between the vases, I haven’t the foggiest idea, but, you know something: I am glad she did! Made me tipsy happy for a while.

Eva, like several other things in life, represents a point of view. If you look at something one way, it’s Eva. Looked at another way, it’s just a couple of vases.

I have included the photograph (which, I believe, one can click on to see the full-size image) at the top of this post, so you can figure out for yourself whether it is Eva or the vases you would rather see.

Now, if you will please excuse me, I need to go back to my contemplation of the pristine contours of Eva’s anatomy. After all, I have complete freedom over my own point of view.
